Orillia-area criminal matters are heard at the Orillia Courthouse on Memorial Avenue. Provincial offences are handled by the Orillia Provincial Offences Court on West Street South — a separate court service area from Barrie, with its own office and its own trial dates.
Orillia sits at the top of the Highway 11 corridor where it meets Highway 12, north of the Barrie stretch of the 400. OPP Central Region enforces heavily through here and the Orillia detachment covers a large rural area, so a substantial share of Orillia files start as OPP charges on Highway 11, Highway 12 or the county roads rather than as city-street stops.
Orillia is administered by City of Barrie Court Services but it is not the Barrie court. Orillia matters carry ticket numbers beginning 3861 and are handled by the Orillia Provincial Offences Court at 575 West Street South; Barrie matters begin 3860 and go to Cedar Pointe Drive. A stunt driving charge from Highway 11 near Orillia and one from Highway 400 near Barrie are two different courts.
