Defence in Hamilton.
Hamilton serves Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, and Flamborough. Summary criminal matters proceed at the John Sopinka Courthouse; HTA and POA matters at the Main Street East Provincial Offences court.
Hamilton serves a broad geographic area — Hamilton proper, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Flamborough, and Glanbrook all fall within the Hamilton-Wentworth court jurisdiction. The Lincoln Alexander Parkway, the Red Hill Valley Parkway, the QEW through Stoney Creek, and the Highway 6 corridor are active enforcement zones for Hamilton Police Service and OPP. Summary criminal charges from Hamilton and the surrounding area proceed at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Main Street East; HTA and Provincial Offences Act matters are heard at the Hamilton POA office directly across the street.
Hamilton's court is notably efficient at the Early Resolution stage — most traffic matters are resolved in one or two appearances through Crown negotiation, without the need for trial. That said, the resolution offered is only as good as the disclosure reviewed beforehand. A reduction from careless driving to a minor speeding conviction, for example, is a significant difference in demerit points, fine, and insurance consequences — and it requires preparation.
Point Duty appears at Hamilton court regularly. We defend the full range of Highway Traffic Act and Provincial Offences Act charges — speeding, stunt driving, careless driving, drive suspended, distracted driving, and no insurance — as well as summary criminal matters including assault, theft under, and mischief. The first call is free and takes about 20 minutes. We'll give you a candid read on the charge and the realistic outcomes before you decide anything.
